Abstract

The termination of child support for adult children is always a controversial issue, not only in legal terms but also from an ethical and social point of view. The present study analyzes a specific cause for termination: the one provided for in Article 152.4 of the Civil Code in relation to Article 853.2 of the same legal text. The Supreme Court, adapting to the changing social reality, maintains a clear jurisprudential doctrine in the sense that, while it interprets the content of this specific cause flexibly, it requires that its proof be rigorous, ultimately proving that the lack of relationship between parents and children is principally and relevantly attributable to the latter.
